Crushing Hope
But the needy will not be ignored forever; the hopes of the poor will not always be crushed —Psalm 9:18
It’s amazing how many people don’t truly understand the dynamics at work in Haiti. The people of Haiti and those in developed countries have an entirely different view of what’s happening there, especially after the earthquake. To those in America and elsewhere, Haitians don’t want to be transformed; Haitians don’t want hope. Haitians love being ignored. After all, so much money was donated to them and they’ve done nothing with it!
To the people of Haiti, it feels like once again they’ve been ignored in spite of what was promised to them; their hopes had been raised to heights not known before…only to be crushed again. Speak to the children and elderly and they will tell you hope has been taken from them once more. Talk to teachers who desperately want to teach the children. Talk to mothers who thought their children would no longer be starving or dying from simple diseases. You’ll get an entirely different portrait of Haiti when you do.
Over 300 verses in the Bible that deal with poverty and injustice to the poor. But God has made a promise…and we know He doesn’t break His promises: the needy won’t be ignored forever…their hopes not always crushed. Somehow, God will make sure that their case is heard! That’s where you come in and join this revolution we’ve stared to change Haiti.
It is not Hait’s fault that the funds haven’t been totally utilized to change their country. Certainly, the government bears some blame but it’s easy to throw the burden on unstable institutions without other NGO’s assuming their role in that unspoken tragedy.
The truth is simple: on January 12th, Haiti helped organizations reeling from the global economic woes to raise millions of dollars in just a couple of months. Look at some of the spreadsheets from 2010 and you’ll see organizations that were ready to make drastic cuts on January, 2011! It’s time for the organizations Haiti saved…to save Haiti and restore their hope and dignity.
If you believe that God loves people to the point where He placed Christ on the Cross for them; if you truly believe that God’s desire is to usher in a new Haiti filled with hope…with children who dream again, and mother’s who are not feeding their kids mud cookies, sugared water or stale bread…then join our cause to provide a better way of life for Haitians!
You can donate and join our revolution at www.haitishope.org 35 cents feeds a child for an entire day…less than a cup of coffee or beverage! If all you have is $1.00, that helps us feed 3 kids! ”Like” us on Facebook and know what we’re doing and how you can be a part of us. God’s counting on people like you and I!
Love in Christ!

300,000 Tears…Haiti earthquake anniversary trip
There is a time to weep and a time to laugh, a time to mourn and a time to dance — Eccl. 3:4
Haiti was in mourning and so were we. We had an amazing trip to Haiti even though it was not exactly what we had initially planned. Sometimes God changes our plans so they can more adequately line up with His. And even as Haitians mourned the death of thousands one year ago during the earthquake, 300,000 tears could not restrain the smiles of the children who never seem to lose hope for a brighter, less tearful day! A time when they may be able, finally, to dance with joy.
Jay and I spent most of our time visiting two orphanages and letting those children know that even though some things had perished in the earthquake, their hopes and dreams were still alive…the rubble had not buried them deep enough where we couldn’t unearth them! We had lunch with them at their Home, our newest partner in Haiti…and yes we ate too (Jay more than me!). And cholera? Who had time to think about that with the dozens of smiles surrounding us!
We were able to help them have a wonderful meal that day, joining them in this momentous occasion. We have big plans with these kids so we hope you join us as we move forward with them. Some of them told us their dreams of being doctors, teachers and lawyers. When it was time to say goodbye, no one wanted us to leave. We leave Haiti yet again with broken hearts but not with broken spirits or dreams. Our faith propels us to believe in His ability to do the impossible! We, too, long for the day when weeping will turn into laughter. And we have made big promises we hope you can help us fulfill. Without your support and God’s leading, our work…the children…are hopeless.
I know some people will ask: “How many times can we save Haiti?” But if you love God or simply value the life of one child, your answer will be quick and simple: a thousand times more if necessary. If you havent’ already helped, do so at www.haitishope.org. Don’t talk about it…do it! If you’d like to sponsor one of our children, we are certain God will repay you for your kindness.
Haiti’s Hope is made up of volunteers and people like you who stretch out their hands to reach out to those in greatest need. Join our revolution to change Haiti!
